The Job Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Forensic Analyst to join our team. In this role, you'll analyse digital evidence and produce robust, forensically sound reports that support criminal, civil and internal investigations. Working within a regulated, accredited environment (including ISO 17025 and the FSR Code), you will contribute to a wide range of digital forensic casework, use industry-standard forensic tools, and maintain meticulous records to ensure scientific integrity and continuity of evidence. This is a hands-on role that also offers the chance to support junior colleagues, contribute to continuous improvement, and liaise with investigators and legal teams on complex and sensitive casework.
The Digital Forensic Analyst is responsible for the analysis of digital evidence, providing robust and forensically sound reports that support criminal, civil, or internal investigations.
The Digital Forensic Analyst will work in accordance with legal, procedural, and accreditation standards (including ISO 17025 and the FSR Code). This role requires strong technical proficiency, accurate record keeping and the ability to manage casework independently within a regulated forensic environment.
Key responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide support, guidance and informal mentoring to trainee analysts.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving.
- Support senior staff in maintaining a professional and effective team culture.
Accreditation & Quality Assurance (ISO 17025 & FSR Code)
- Conduct all casework strictly in line with validated methods, implemented policies and procedures and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in method validation, proficiency testing, equipment verification and internal audits.
- Maintain complete and accurate casework records, ensuring continuity of evidence and scientific integrity.
Operational Management
- Independently manage a personal caseload, meeting quality and turnaround expectations.
- Conduct forensic imaging, acquisition, analysis and advanced interpretation of data.
- Prepare clear, concise, defensible forensic reports and statements suitable for investigative and legal end-users (e.g. the Criminal Justice System).
Technical Oversight & Governance
- Perform hands-on use of industry-standard forensic tools, including but not limited to:
- FTK Imager
- Recon ITR
- Cellebrite
- MSAB
- Magnet Forensics
- Supporting tool verification testing and process improvements.
- Identify and escalate complex or sensitive casework issues to senior staff.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Liaise with investigators and legal teams to clarify requirements and discuss findings.
- Prepare statements and attend court where required.

Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within law enforcement, an ISO 17025 / FSR Code accredited digital forensic laboratory.
- Demonstrable hands-on technical experience or possess a relevant degree (e.g. Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity).
- All digital forensic staff members must be capable of obtaining and maintaining security clearances required to fulfil this role (SC / NPPV).
- Capable of handling sensitive and distressing material (e.g. CSAM).
- Understanding of the ISO 17025 standard, FSR Code, ACPO Guidelines, quality management, validation procedures, competency frameworks and the Criminal Justice System.
- Extensive hands-on experience in digital forensic acquisition, analysis and reporting across multiple device types and platforms.
- Exhibit emotional resilience and professional judgment when dealing with challenging content.
- Actively raise concerns, suggest process improvements, and support management in maintaining high standards
. - Work independently, manage caseloads, and ensure timely, accurate reporting without direct supervision.
- Experience giving expert witness evidence within the Criminal Justice System.
- Professional memberships desirable (e.g. IACIS, ENFSI, UKFA, etc).
Note:
This role is based at our London (Fleet Street) office and, due to the nature of the work, is required to be carried out on-site full time; remote or hybrid working is not available.
