About us:
My Neighbours the Dumplings is an independently run Chinese Dumpling House specialising in hand made dumplings, rolled fresh everyday by our expert Dumpling team around the corner from our other restaurant in Hackney. We not not strictly a Dim Sum restaurant, but follow the Dim Sum style of eating; lots of small dishes that are shared amongst the table.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Sous Chef, must be self-motivated, have an interest in dumplings, calm under pressure and be able to work in a small team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen in our Victoria Park Restaurant.
- You would be responsible for keeping high food and service standards in a 5* rated kitchen as well as monitoring the prep and stock to ensure service runs smoothly.
- Someone who has experience of managing a team. You will assist with hiring (when needed), training and managing the team, noticing when extra training is needed and finding interesting ways of engaging the chefs with their development.
What we look for in a Senior Sous Chef:
- The service is generally busy and fast paced, so we're looking for someone who enjoys this atmosphere.
- Whilst an interest in dumplings is definitely a must, it is not necessary to have experience making dumplings specifically.
- We value people with a strong work ethic and passion for freshly made food and good produce.
- We are a small but growing company so we would like to take on someone who would enjoy being a part of the decision making process, show initiative and get stuck in with their ideas.
