London SE SD, United Kingdom NHS Full time £80,000 - £120,000 per year

London Ambulance Service (LAS) is looking for a new Chief People Officer to join our Board at an exciting time in our journey of improvement and transformation.

We are seeking a Chief People Officer who will play a lead role in shaping a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing workforce that delivers outstanding care to Londoners every day. With passion and purpose, our new Chief People Officer will drive the Trust's people strategy - championing staff wellbeing, professional development, and cultural transformation. As a key member of the executive team, you will inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and ensure that every colleague feels valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference in one of the most dynamic and vital healthcare environments in the country.

As the only pan-London NHS provider, we respond to more 999 and 111 calls than any other ambulance service in the country, caring for thousands of Londoners every day. Our ambition is simple: to deliver outstanding emergency and urgent care whenever and wherever it is needed.

As a future NHS leader, the successful candidates will be able to demonstrate that they meet the NHS leadership competency framework for board members (please see the candidate information pack below for the six domains). The competency domains are aligned to Our NHS People Promise , Our Leadership Way and the Seven Principles of Public Life (Nolan Principles).

We respond to more 999 and 111 calls than any other ambulance service in the country, and operate a number of specialist teams to provide tailored care to people's needs – this includes our joint community response teams who care for frail older people in their homes.

We attend more than 2,700 patients every day. Our patients, staff, volunteers and communities are at the heart of what we do, and we involve them in helping to shape our work and the care we provide. As a large NHS organisation caring for the whole of London, we are responsible for ensuring our services and employment practices are accessible and inclusive for the diverse communities we serve and the people we employ or who volunteer with us.

The best boards are those that reflect the workforce and communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ candidates, who we know are all under-represented in these important roles.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to apply, please submit a comprehensive CV along with a covering letter, which sets out your interest in the role and encapsulates the aspects of your experience relevant to the required criteria.

Alongside your application letter and CV, candidates are also requested to record and submit a video message , highlighting why LAS appeals and bringing to life why you believe you meet the criteria. We ask that the video is no more then 3 minutes and this can be recorded and uploaded using your phone. Recorded messages can be sent alongside the application and will be used as part of the panel's assessment. You can send the video to us via OneDrive and/or email directly to Donna Fendick at
