About the roleThis post will be based within the Department of Surgery and Cancer in the academic Breast surgery team and the Imperial College Healthcare Tissue and Biobank (ICHTB).
The full-time post is available from 1st January 2025 and is offered on a fixed-term basis for 1 year in the first instance. Travel is expected between the Imperial College London campuses.
What you would be doingAs the post holder, you will spend 50% FTE within the breast surgery team led by Professor Daniel Leff and 50% FTE within the Imperial College Healthcare Tissue and Biobank (ICHTB). You will work on a broad portfolio of projects to improve outcomes for breast cancer patients. These projects include developing technology to aid in early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, working on improving precision breast cancer surgery imaging technology and using novel technology to evaluate outcomes of breast cancer surgery.
Your role will be to support co-ordination of activity across all the projects including co-ordination, recording and archiving breast tissues for validation studies of surgical technologies. As part of the Imperial College Healthcare Tissue and Biobank (ICHTB) team, you will provide a high level of technical expertise and advice to researchers in the pursuit of their research projects. You will additionally perform a range of laboratory techniques (such as RNA and DNA extraction, cryotomy and microtomy) and will be responsible for supporting the for day-to-day co-ordination, running and maintenance of the laboratory.
What we are looking forA Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in a biological/scientific field or related field), or a nursing qualification and proven clinical trial/project management experience gained in clinical setting is essential. You will need to show strong laboratory and motivational skills, as well as effective communication, organisational and time management skills. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an evolving programme of work in Breast surgical trials and the Tissue Bank. Relevant experience is highly desirable.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), fixed term for 1 year based at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital
The post-holder must be able to be in-post by 01 February 2026.
