Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Receptionist (Host/Hostess) as the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant. They play a crucial role in setting the tone for the dining experience by warmly greeting guests, managing reservations, and ensuring smooth seating arrangements. The role requires excellent customer service skills, multitasking abilities, and the capacity to remain organised in a fast-paced environment.

Hosts and hostesses work in front-of-house settings, typically within a busy restaurant environment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, as it often involves interacting with guests from the moment they arrive until they are seated. It's a dynamic, fast-paced position that requires flexibility and quick thinking.

Responsibilities

· Guest Reception & Seating: Warmly greet guests upon arrival, escort them to their tables with grace, and ensure seating areas are impeccably clean and prepared to standard.

· Reservation Management: Manage phone and online reservations with precision, maintaining detailed records of guest preferences, special occasions, and seating requests.

· Waitlist Oversight: Monitor the waitlist during peak hours, provide accurate wait-time estimates, and update guests with professionalism and courtesy.

· Guest Flow Coordination: Collaborate seamlessly with the front-of-house team to ensure efficient seating, smooth transitions, and optimal table rotation.

· Information Sharing: Confidently communicate details about menus, daily specials, wine selections, and restaurant policies in a knowledgeable and engaging manner.

· Guest Relations: Address inquiries and concerns with discretion and poise, escalating sensitive issues to management when necessary to uphold service standards.

· Front Desk Presentation & Support: Maintain an elegant and organised host stand, assist with event coordination, and provide support with menus or guest needs as required.

· Experience Monitoring: Actively observe guest satisfaction, ambiance, and comfort, ensuring an exceptional first impression and lasting positive experience.

· Digital Check-Ins & Systems Use: Utilise SevenRooms to manage reservations, check guests in and out, update seating statuses in real time, and maintain accurate guest profiles and visit history for a personalised experience.

· Occasional Payment Assistance - When needed, assist the service team in discreetly processing payments or managing guest accounts with tact and efficiency.

Qualifications

· Education: High school diploma required; hospitality degree is a plus.

· Experience: Customer service experience preferred, particularly in hospitality or customer-related fields; reservation software experience a plus.

· Skills: Clear communication, friendly customer service, efficient organization, multitasking, problem-solving under pressure, and familiarity with reservation systems.

· Bilingual Skills: Being fluent in more than one language can be an asset, especially in areas with diverse populations.

· Physical: Able to stand, walk, and handle physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

· Availability: Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as these are typically busy restaurant times.

· Other: A neat and professional appearance, as the role involves being the face of the restaurant.
