Clinical Practice Development Facilitator

The clinical practice development nurse (PDN) will work collaboratively with the departmental sisters, matron and the education and development centre (EDC) to deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centred care. The post holder will lead the continuing education, training and professional development for the nursing staff in the ED to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge. She/he will develop and drive forward an education programmes to ensure that nursing staff acquire the professional standards and clinical competencies when caring for patients.
As a Band 6 Clinical Educator you will be responsible for promoting and implementing practice conducive to the development of high quality patient care, by providing education and support to junior staff members and HCA's.
A strong clinical background in the Emergency Department is essential to this role to support the nursing team and ensure our patients receive the right standard of care.
The post holder will improve clinical outcomes for our patients by ensuring care is being delivered according to up to date evidence based practice and service delivery
You will:
have responsibility for assessment, implementation and of monitoring standards of patient care
monitor and support staff training and education for the team.
carry out risk management, report & share learning with team members.
have an understanding of budget control including an awareness of efficient use of both human and consumable resources and equipment.
Acts as an expert nurse demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills, clinical reasoning and decision making for patients attending with emergency care presentations.
need to be able to adapt quickly to changing situations in terms of managing acutely unwell patients, encouraging timely escalation and management of the deteriorating patient.
ensure that the nursing teams are caring for patients to the highest standards and you will have oversight of all patients within the unit to provide assurance to the ward manager.
