Role Summary:

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how ResponsibleSteel delivers credibility, trust, and value through its Chain of Custody Standard, claims integrity, approaches to traceability, and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) system. The successful candidate will lead the development of systems and frameworks that connect data from ResponsibleSteel certification, traceability and claims to real-world insights — ensuring information is robust, actionable, and trusted by regulators, customers, and stakeholders alike.

Responsibilities include:

  • Chain of Custody & Traceability:
    Lead development and oversight of CoC requirements; monitor best practice; develop traceability systems; support training.
  • Claims Value and Integrity:
    Revise claims options; develop and communicate guidance; monitor market use and resolve misuse; align messaging.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:
    Design and operationalise MEL system; analyse and present data; support a culture of learning and improvement.
  • Data & Systems:
    Oversee tools for certifications, claims, and metrics; ensure data integrity and usability; identify digital innovation opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Facilitate dialogue with members and auditors; represent ResponsibleSteel in international fora.

Essential Experience:

Significant professional experience in chain of custody models, traceability solutions, claims systems, MEL frameworks, and data systems within a standards/assurance context. Strong multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.

Desirable:

Experience with sustainability standards, ESG trends, metals/mining sectors, digital traceability platforms, and international engagement (China/India).

Competencies:

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; strategic thinking; ability to manage multiple projects; commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
