Centrica is a key player in the LNG market, utilising its UK re-gasification asset and market presence. Centrica has signed multiple mid and long-term deals in Europe, Middle East, Americas and Asia, continuing to grow its global presence through its London and Singapore offices.
Centrica's LNG Business is a key strategic growth area for the company, tasking the LNG team with ambitious plans to grow their global presence in the LNG market and deliver value to the business. The LNG team has delivered over 250 cargoes since inception of the business, operating globally in over 39 countries across the Atlantic and Pacific basins. The
LNG Operations Optimisation Manager
will be responsible for driving the operational and commercial optimisation of the annual delivery program and in doing so play a key role in the future success of our LNG Business.
This role is based out of our London (Mayfair) office.
Key accountabilities:
- Prepare, manage and deliver the Annual Delivery Program (ADP) in coordination with Sellers, Buyers, Trading Teams, Freight Team, Analysts, Marine Assurance and Commercial Operations and other internal stakeholders
- Align delivery schedules with LNG Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPAs), including adjustments and pricing mechanisms
- Implement procedures related to SPAs, including additional agreements, and correlation tests required under SPA contracts
- Contribute to LNG inventory planning, including weekly forecasts, shipping schedules, and site coordination
- Represent the company in discussions related to lifting schedules and delivery windows
- Continuous review of the company position to seek commercial operations optimisations
- Operate Trading and Shipping Contracts on a day-to-day basis to protect P&L, especially focusing on optimisation and adding value
- Continuous liaison with suppliers, receivers, traders, chartered vessels, ship owners
- Liaise and work closely with Operators on loading and discharge logistics, co-ordinate between ports, buyers, sellers, shipping agents, ship owners and captains
- Work within the scope of Centrica HSES policy standards for LNG Marine activities
- Support for planning and monitoring ship voyages, LNG and fuel consumption in line with LNG trading team strategy
- Forecast LNG cargo delivery volumes, LNG boil-off, LNG quality within contractual obligations
- Collaborate in discussions with vessels masters to deliver the most economical voyage, including optimising the route, the speed and the fuel mix consumed
- Monitor ship performance and economics and establish benchmarks in conjunction with Centrica LNG Freight, Marine Assurance and Analytics teams
- Collaborate on operations involving loading and unloading terminals
- Ensure accurate contract management records (nominations, customs, contract deviations and vessel documentation)
- Contribute to validation of LNG measurement quantities using complex spreadsheets, ISO standards and thermodynamic principles
- Provide support, advice and knowledge sharing across the LNG trading and origination teams
- Provide expertise in the negotiation of contracts and confirmation notices
- Be available out of hours on call to deal with shipping and logistic issues
- Participate in shippers/offtakers forums representing Centrica LNG.
The Person:
- Experience in LNG Operations (or similar), LNG contracts (SPAs and MSPAs), and Charter Parties
- Significant experience in scaling contractual and shipping operations in complex, multi stakeholder supply chain configurations
- Experience in managing vessel scheduling programs alongside contractual commitments
- Strategic and tactical skills for developing ADP, master transport planning/scheduling, capacity planning and planning system tools
- Strong ability in leveraging sales and operations planning processes through execution
- Have developed and monitored tracking systems to evaluate large scale supply chain plans and execution of supply chain plans to ensure agreed operating results are achieved
- Have worked cross functionally in major supply or trading organisations, identifying best practices and information flows
- Have good knowledge of interfaces and consequences of material ship-compatibility matters as well as technical due diligence core programs run by marine assurance
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Strong scheduling modelling skills
- Effective communication and sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables.
