Location: Wakefield
Salary: £22,000 - £28,000 (dependent on experience)
About the Opportunity
Join a well-established legal practice in Wakefield as a Legal Assistant, working directly with one of our Directors on a variety of cases with a primary focus on litigation. This is an exceptional opportunity for an LPC-qualified candidate seeking a pathway to a training contract, with our last 2 LPC Legal Assistants successfully securing training contracts with the firm.
The Role
You'll be working closely with a Director, gaining valuable hands-on experience across various legal matters while developing your skills in a supportive environment. This role offers excellent exposure to litigation practice and provides a clear progression route to a training contract for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and legal letters under supervision
- Handle telephone calls from clients and third parties professionally
- Manage and maintain client files and case documentation
- Assist with case preparation and research tasks
- Perform general office duties and administrative support
- Support the Director with diary management and scheduling
- Assist with document drafting and formatting
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems
- Liaise with clients, barristers, and other legal professionals
- Support with court bundle preparation and case management

- Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail
- Professional telephone manner and client service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Interest in litigation and contentious legal work
- Ambition to progress to a training contract
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential information
