As our Head of HR and Organisational Development you will be a key member of our Senior Management team, playing a pivotal role in delivering our priorities and preparing the organisation for Local Government Reorganisation.

You will lead our approach to strategic thinking on workforce issues and be responsible for our people strategy, policies and procedures, trade union relations, organisational and cultural improvements, and employee engagement. You will support our staff to realise their true potential and you will recognise our collective responsibility as leaders to motivate and inspire.

You will be a strategic leader with experience in people, culture and organisational development. You'll bring a strong track record of transformation, inclusive leadership, and strategic impact. You'll be a collaborative influencer, a confident communicator, and an advocate for excellence and equity.

To be successful, you will:

  • Be a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) or have equivalent professional expertise.
  • Have relevant professional experience and evidence of contribution at a senior managerial level in a similar strategic HR/organisational development role.
  • Show experience of successfully delivering change, implementing service improvement and key projects.
  • Demonstrate leading and motivating teams and engaging workforces to deliver corporate objectives.
  • Be able to operate in a political environment and have a thorough understanding of the local government environment.
