Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.
Location: UK, Flexible
Closing date for applications: 30th November 2025
The opportunity:
This is an exciting role within our Zurich Municipal Charities and Education Team to support our existing customers and our ambitious growth plans.
In this dynamic role we'll expect you to meet financial targets for both commercial insurance and fee-based risk management services, working closely with our customers to understand their specific needs.
Zurich Municipal is a leading provider of insurance and risk management solutions for the public and voluntary sectors. Since 1993 we've insured charities, voluntary organisations, housing associations, and the education and public sectors, helping our customers better understand and reduce the risks they face. We provide insurance for organisations of all sizes across the UK, from insuring a large local authority to small community groups.
You'll therefore be someone who puts customers' needs first – someone who has natural rapport and empathy and who can build the strong relationships at all levels necessary for success. This role therefore requires a wide variety of skills and is for someone who relishes a challenge and likes to be given the freedom and responsibility to go out there and make it happen. Everyone passionately wants to deliver an exceptional service to customers that they can be proud of. There is also a responsibility on us to find different ways to support customers.
The Account Manager role is sector specific; you will be expected to develop relationships with customers and brokers to win new business within primarily the Independent School and charities sector. The role requires you to build strong, deep relationships throughout. The goal is to achieve a multi-layered relationship with broker and customer organisations, creating touch points across Risk & Insurance officers, Finance Directors, Procurement and Estate Teams.
Equally important will be the development and strengthening of relationships internally, through the wider Zurich UK business, ensuring our proposition continues to meet customer needs and requirements.
Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours.
This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren't available full-time. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you may need.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with extensive customer and market facing experience who can successfully influence externally and internally, balancing business needs whilst acting as an effective customer ambassador primarily to win new business. General insurance knowledge (property, liability and motor) is essential.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently and as part of a wider market facing team. An ability to communicate well at all levels of an organisation is a crucial part of this role so our ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and know how to flex this for different audiences.
A good understanding of our financial results and a breadth of experience across Zurich would be helpful. If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you
As an inclusive employer, we want to ensure that all candidates feel comfortable and can perform at their best during the interview. You'll have the opportunity to let us know of any reasonable adjustment or practical support needed when you apply.
Organised, efficient and adept at managing yourself and data requirements to ensure our internal reports are accurate at all times.
What will you be doing?
Closely Managing an allocation of customers in your area, making a difference by building strong relationships and thereby, driving the retention and acquisition of business contributing to profitable growth.
Using your initiative, negotiating deals and working closely with underwriters and claims to ensure our end-to-end proposition is the best it can be balancing customer need and underwriting vigour.
Working with a smile on your face as part of a strong team to deliver our overall aims, supporting and growing together.
Identifying operational and strategic risk management opportunities facilitating the use of Zurich Risk Engineering services for our customers.
Managing competitive Tender responses using skill and judgment to ensure we present the best responses required to retain existing and win new business. Working closely with influential internal and external stakeholders.
What will you get in return?
Everyone's different. That's why at Zurich; we offer a wide range of employee benefits so our people can choose what fits them and their life. Our benefits provide real flexibility so our people can make considered choices and tailor their benefits throughout the year. Our benefits include 12% defined non-contributory pension scheme, annual company bonus, private medical insurance and the option to buy up to an additional 20 days or sell some of your holiday.
