Buro Happold is recruiting for an Associate level Electrical Engineer to join our award winning and dynamic
Building Environments
team in our Londonoffice.

This role is suited to a candidate from a Buildings background looking for an opportunity to pursue industry leading designs within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.

This role will see you leading MEP projects, along with inputting to, and assisting with leading the electrical team on projects in the London area and further afield.

We are ideally looking for a versatile candidate who wants to play an active role in technical delivery, project management, mentorship / line management, and business development.

You will be joining a growing UK MEP team of over
190
Engineers and Technicians, and drawing upon the diverse skills and knowledge of other connected disciplines, including sustainability, building physics, fire engineering, facades, lighting, technology, and more. This role will give you a wide breadth of technical exposure and enable you to push the boundaries of sustainable design.

What sort of projects could I work on?
You will be working on some of the most technically challenging projects in our portfolio - recent examples include

  • Marina Residential Tower, Athens – (Foster & Partners) – Greece's tallest building will also be an exemplar in sustainable design.
  • Barbican Renewal, London – (Allies & Morrison & Asif Khan Studios) - A once in a generation opportunity to be involved in the low energy refurbishment of an iconic, unapologetically modernist building.
  • Canning Town Masterplan – (Jestico & Whiles) – As part of our multidisciplinary design team supporting the development of an estate regeneration masterplan on a 10ha site with a brief to deliver 1,750 homes.

Buro Happold's London Building Services team continues to deliver cutting edge design solutions which encourage the efficient use of materials, energy and natural resources.

This key role will have a variety of day-to-day responsibilities including:

  • Contribute to leading the electrical team and take a project leadership role as required.
  • Communicating directly with Clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations. Further developing relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects and developers.
  • Preparing technical and financial proposals for new work.
  • Managing workload of engineers and technicians
  • Preparing Technical Specifications.
  • Monitor financial performance of jobs as well as setting up and managing job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.

Skills & Experience:

  • As a talented building services engineer, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate...
  • Extensive electrical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader.
  • Diverse sector experience, ideally with large scale project experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects and other team members.
  • Bachelors or master's degree in engineering
  • Professionally registered with a relevant institution; e.g. CIBSE, IMechE, etc.
  • Although electrically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of other design disciplines.
  • A Bachelor's degree BEng/BSc or Master's degree MEng/MSc in a relevant discipline.
