Education and Skills - Building Bright Futures
We are looking for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join the Sensory Impairment, Physical and Medical Service (SIPMS), supporting the Inclusion Strategy across mainstream schools and early years settings.
This role focuses on helping children and young people with sensory impairments to develop socially and emotionally. You'll work directly with pupils to deliver creative, tailored support and collaborate with school staff to provide practical training and guidance.
You will help deliver training with SIPMS Advisory Teachers, lead sessions in Braille and British Sign Language (BSL), and support the creation of accessible learning materials. You'll advise teaching assistants and contribute to tracking pupil progress.
This role involves travelling to different places and doesn't follow a fixed weekly schedule. You'll work in a variety of settings, such as family homes, nurseries, primary and secondary schools, and sixth forms.
Applicants should hold a Level 3 qualification (e.g. A-level or NVQ) and be a qualified Teaching Assistant. BSL and Braille training will be offered as necessary.
If you are committed to inclusive education and want to make a meaningful impact, we welcome your application.
