We're looking for an experienced Flutter Developer with strong Android expertise to help refine and extend the MindBerry mobile app, a wellbeing companion designed to support users through reflective, mindful, and data-driven practices.

You'll be joining an existing technical foundation and working closely with the head of technology to complete unfinished components, optimize app performance, and extend functionality across mobile platforms. The ideal candidate has solid experience in Flutter, Dart, Android Studio, and related technologies, understands state management, and is comfortable integrating with secure APIs and backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continue development of the MindBerry mobile app built with Flutter and Dart.
  • Collaborate with existing team members to complete pending functionality and improve stability, responsiveness, and user experience.
  • Work in Android Studio, managing builds, dependencies, and environment configurations for release and testing.
  • Integrate and optimize API communication with a .NET Core backend (REST APIs).
  • Ensure smooth authentication flows with JSON Web Tokens (JWT) or related secure login mechanisms.
  • Implement and refine data storage and synchronization for offline/online use.
  • Debug, refactor, and optimize existing code for maintainability and performance.
  • Collaborate on UI/UX improvements consistent with the MindBerry visual identity and wellbeing themes.
  • Prepare the app for release on Google Play and Apple App Store, ensuring compliance with platform requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of Mobile development experience, including state management.
  • Strong understanding of Android Studio, Gradle, and mobile build processes.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with real-time data.
  • Competence in mobile app architecture, asynchronous programming, and data persistence (SQL, cosmos, etc.).
  • Proven ability to debug and optimize for performance, battery usage, and network efficiency.
  • Understanding of secure authentication flows (OAuth2, MSAL, Firebase Auth, or similar).
  • Strong grasp of UI/UX principles and Flutter's widget-driven design approach.
  • Experience working with Git, branching workflows, and collaborative version control.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with iOS deployment (Xcode and App Store submission).
  • Experience with Azure backend services or .NET Core APIs.
  • Experience in healthtech, wellbeing, or data-driven user experiences.
  • Understanding of background processing, notifications, and permissions.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps (e.g., Codemagic, GitHub Actions, Bitrise).
  • Experience with animations, custom widgets, or responsive design in Flutter.

Pay: Up to £40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 16 per week
