Role Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Professional Services Director to lead and optimise our consultancy function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and commercially effective professional services.
This role will be responsible for leading, managing, recruiting, and supporting the Professional Services team, which delivers assignments to clients across more than 20,000 properties, including landmark sites such as The Shard and the Landmark Pinnacle.
You will ensure the team is aligned with our core values, recruit new consultants and assessors, and drive performance improvements both individually and collectively. The role will also champion the development of team capability, technical excellence, and professional behaviours to maximise billable utilisation, protect margins, and maintain consistent client delivery. In addition, you will work closely with Product Management, providing coordinated technical insight to enhance existing offerings, support new product development, and resolve performance or delivery challenges.
What You'll Be Doing
Working as part of the leadership team, you will shape strategic priorities, strengthen our competence framework, support succession planning, and contribute to the development of tools and knowledge that create competitive advantage. You will also play a key role in driving digital enablement, lean practices, innovation, and employee engagement using the Q12+ model.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and support the Professional Services team, embedding a "Great, not Good" culture and ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Align the team to core values, recruit new consultants/assessors, and enhance performance at both individual and team levels.
- Provide direction on high-level consulting projects and assignments.
- Contribute to organisational strategy, including succession planning and skills development.
- Improve tools, frameworks, and technical competence to establish a competitive edge.
- Foster a culture of shared purpose, accountability, and engagement.
- Own the quality system, budget, people management, and team growth.
- Identify opportunities for digital innovation and leverage technology to improve efficiency and client success.
- Troubleshoot client issues and ensure corrective actions align with strategic and financial objectives.
- Deliver and report performance objectives into the Ark leadership team; ensure product roadmap execution.
- Drive waste reduction, lean operational practices, and continuous improvement.
- Support marketing activity (blogs, webinars) by utilising team expertise.
- Manage the function using the company's operating system (e.g., EOS).
- Maintain operational excellence through strong utilisation, quality, compliance, and margin performance.
Practical Requirements:
- A minimum of one or more of the following: MIIRSM, CMIOSH.
- Experience of change management as we scale up.
- Have a good understanding of operations.
- Excellent people management experience and experience of leading large multiskilled teams, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Effectiveness and professional services management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
- A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
