Our client is a leading global first tier automotive supplier with an extensive UK footprint. At the forefront of technology and NPD, it supplies in to all of the major OEMs across the globe. We are currently working closely with its site in Yorkshire which is investing heavily in both its site and its people, as part of a business-wide improvement programme, and as a result it has created a number of new roles.
JOB DESCRIPTION
My client has created this brand-new role of Senior Manufacturing Engineer. This is a real opportunity to make an impact and to rapidly progress your career.
We are looking for a second-in-command and successor to the Engineering Manager, supporting them in leading and developing the plant engineering team. Assisted by process engineers and controls engineers you will initiate and develop improvement projects in order to improve and optimise line efficiency to World Class Manufacturing standards. A key focus will be to make a significant impact on performance metrics including OEE.
- You will initiate and develop improvement projects in order to improve and optimise line efficiency to World Class Manufacturing standards.
- You will oversee that plant equipment is running to desired standard working along with the maintenance supervisor for planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
- You will carry out routine monitoring of all critical systems and identify weaknesses in the production system.
- You will assist in training operators / staff in mechanical tasks.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Extensive experience in a first or second tier Automotive environment
- Engineering degree or equivalent
- Some knowledge of electrical systems / robotics
- Able to fault find down to a competent level
- Management of Contractors and issuing of permits to work (legal and safety requirements)
- Highly developed communicator, gaining support by good problem-solving ability, logical decision-making and influencing skills.
- Works well under pressure and without supervision.
- Effective strategist as well as an operational tactician.
- A pragmatic team player able to contribute to the business beyond the engineering function
- Efficient project manager and able to manage others through change; delivers results.
- Financially literate, analytical and agile mind-set and thought pattern.
- Manages self and others in ways which optimise their contribution to business performance, ie through training and development, delegation, motivation etc. Leads by example
- Strong customer focus, continuously looking for ways to improve
- Understanding and ability to instruct and implement Kaizen, TPM and Lean Manufacturing with an in-depth knowledge of WCM / Lean Manufacturing techniques.
