WordPress & Content Manager (Volunteer) - Volunteer

We're seeking a WordPress & Content Manager to run our WP (Divi) site, Academy LMS and Directories Pro. Own updates, content workflows, SEO and OpenAI features so our charity can publish courses, resources and listings securely and at pace.

What are we looking for?

• WordPress + Divi Confident with updates, page builds, templates, roles, backups and using a staging site before publishing.
• Content ops Plan and publish pages/posts, organise categories/tags, apply on-page SEO (titles, meta, internal links) and keep content accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA basics).
• Academy LMS Set up courses/lessons/quizzes/certificates, manage enrolments and check simple course analytics.
• Directories Pro Configure listing types/fields, submission and moderation, and useful search filters/facets.
• Performance & security Caching, image optimisation, basic DB housekeeping; update discipline and security hardening.
• Light coding Comfortable with HTML/CSS and small PHP/JS tweaks to fix layout or hook into plugins.
• OpenAI in WP Maintain a content assistant/chat, edit prompts, and respect privacy/permissions.
• Documentation & support Write short how-to guides, triage issues, and explain fixes in plain English.

What will you be doing?

We're seeking a WordPress & Content Manager to run our WordPress (Divi) website, Academy LMS and Directories Pro directory, plus our OpenAI features. You'll keep the site secure and fast, and work closely with our learning designer and marketing assistants to plan, publish and improve content—courses, pages and listings.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and run the content calendar with the marketing team. Write or edit pages, keep Divi templates tidy, and apply basic SEO and accessibility.
• Keep WordPress healthy update core, themes and plugins; manage backups and a staging site; monitor uptime and performance; fix common issues.
• Directories Pro set up and tidy listing types and fields, improve search filters, and review/approve submissions so entries stay high-quality.
• Academy LMS work with the learning designer to set up courses, lessons, quizzes, enrolments and certificates; add small H5P activities when they help; check simple course analytics.
• OpenAI maintain our content assistant and prompts; ensure logs, permissions and privacy settings are in place.
• Create short how-to guides so colleagues can publish confidently.

Deliverables (first 8–12 weeks)

• Content and site audit; a simple content playbook and a refreshed set of Divi templates.
• Directory tidy-up clearer categories, a better submission form, smoother moderation and improved search.
• Launch or refresh 1–2 courses with enrolment, certificates and basic reporting, working with the learning designer.
• Set up automated backups, monitoring and a reliable staging→production process.

You'll work remotely with our Programme Lead and trustees (we're a UK CIO) and operate within our safeguarding, EDI and data-protection policies.
