Job description
Our friendly GP Practice requires a part-time Lead Receptionist. The successful candidate should have a proven record of patient interaction, Emis experience, good IT skills and the ability to run a team of 4-6 staff.
Having a population of almost 9,000 patients means we require applicants who are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are confident using their own initiative. The position is well suited to someone working in a GP Practice with team-leading experience.
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the Lead Receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
The Lead Receptionist is responsible for:
a. Overseeing the reception services of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities
b. Act as the communication link between the management team and staff
c. Line managing all reception staff, supporting staff development, providing guidance and direction, ensuring staff are up to date with mandatory training
d. Confidently dealing with patient queries and concerns which have been escalated to Lead Receptionist
e. Compiling reception staff rotas and ensuring cover is in place
f. Reviewing and updating all reception procedures as required
g. Support the management team in the compilation of practice reports
h. Proactively running Emis searches and contacting eligible patients for appointments in line with QOF
i. Provide initial guidance to patients who wish to complain, reassuring and de-escalating where appropriate
j. Manage all deliveries to the practice, ensuring adherence to the cold chain policy as necessary
Qualifications Essential
- Educated to A-level / equivalent or higher, with relevant experience
- GCSE English (C or above) and at least three others
Experience Essential
- Experience of working in a GP Practice
- Experience of managing a team of 4-6 staff
