Project Planner

We're hiring a
Project Planner
to strengthen schedule control across our project portfolio. This role is accountable for building, maintaining, and governing integrated project schedules that give leadership a clear, data-driven view of delivery confidence, risk, and what's needed to hit key milestones.
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Engineering/Delivery teams, Procurement, and Commercial/Contracts to drive planning discipline, identify pinch points early, and keep delivery on track.
Key responsibilities (what you'll do)
- Own the project planning cadence: create and manage baseline schedules, update cycles, and reporting rhythms.
- Build high-quality integrated schedules using a structured WBS, logic links, realistic durations, and explicit assumptions.
- Run planning workshops with SMEs to validate scope, sequencing, dependencies, constraints, and milestone logic.
- Maintain schedule integrity: monitor critical path/near-critical paths, float erosion, constraints, and logic quality.
- Progress tracking & forecasting: collect progress updates, validate % completes, and produce forward-looking projections.
- Produce decision-grade outputs: milestone plans, lookaheads (2–6 weeks), variance analysis, "what-if" scenarios, and recovery plans.
- Support change control: assess schedule impacts of scope changes, variations, or slippage; maintain auditable schedule versions.
- Risk & opportunities integration: highlight schedule risks early and help teams mitigate through sequencing/resource solutions.
- Resource/capacity visibility (where applicable): support resource loading, levelling, and delivery feasibility checks.
- Stakeholder management: translate complex schedules into clear, executive-ready insights and actions.
What you'll bring (must-have)
- Proven experience as a Project Planner / Scheduler / Project Controls Planner across multiple projects (portfolio exposure is a plus).
- Strong working knowledge of critical path method (CPM), baselining, progress measurement, and schedule forecasting.
- Hands-on scheduling tool capability (one or more):
- Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project (plus strong Excel skills as a minimum)
- Ability to cut through ambiguity, challenge assumptions constructively, and drive alignment on a workable plan.
- Comfortable operating with senior stakeholders, crisp communication, structured thinking, and pragmatic problem-solving.
- Strong attention to detail (data quality matters) with a bias toward actionable reporting, not "pretty plans."
Nice to have (adds leverage)
- Power BI/dashboards, automated reporting, or data-driven PMO tooling.
- Earned Value/performance measurement experience (where relevant).
- Schedule quality checks / planning governance frameworks.
- Certifications (mandatory): PMI-SP, PMP, PRINCE2, APM.
What success looks like (first 90 days)
- Schedules are credible, current, and decision-useful (not shelfware).
- PMs and delivery leads are aligned on dependencies, constraints, and milestone logic.
- Risks and slippage are surfaced early with clear recovery options.
- Reporting is consistent, automated where possible, and trusted by stakeholders.
Why join
- Real delivery influence: planning is treated as a control function, not admin.
- Exposure to varied projects and senior stakeholders.
- Flexible engagement: permanent or contract, we'll hire the best fit.
How to apply
Send your CV via LinkedIn or email.:
- Your availability/notice period
- Your preference (perm or contract)
- If contract: day rate expectation and working location preferences
- Key tools used (P6 / MSP / Power BI / etc.) and examples of project types you've planned
