About Our Pre-School
Our Pre-School is a vibrant, exciting space where children build confidence, independence and the key skills needed for starting school. Children enjoy hands-on activities, early writing and number work, role play, independent dressing and serving their own snacks. They take part in yoga, music, dance, nature walks, local trips—and spend plenty of time outdoors exploring nature through Forest School and adventurous play.
Role: Pre-School Qualified Practitioner
Reports to: Pre-School Room Leader / Early Years Teacher
Hours: Full-time (part-time considered)
Location: The Old Forge Day Nursery
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality early education and care by following our bespoke curriculum, supporting children's learning, confidence and school-readiness through fun, engaging experiences both indoors and outdoors.
Key ResponsibilitiesLearning & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver exciting EYFS-based activities in line with our bespoke curriculum, supporting early literacy, numeracy and communication.
- Encourage independence through dressing, self-serving and daily routines.
- Promote a love of books, storytelling and imaginative play.
Outdoor Learning & Forest School
- Support daily outdoor play, nature exploration and local walks.
- Participate in Forest School sessions, helping children build resilience, curiosity and confidence outdoors.
Wellbeing & Safety
- Provide warm, positive and consistent care to every child.
- Maintain safe, organised and engaging learning environments.
- Follow all safeguarding, health & safety and hygiene procedures.
Teamwork & Families
- Build strong, positive relationships with families through regular communication and updates.
- Work collaboratively with the Pre-School team and take part in events such as local trips, performances and graduation.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above).
- Passion for working with pre-school children.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS and child development.
- Creative, enthusiastic and confident in outdoor learning.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
- Forest School training or willingness to develop outdoor learning practice.
- Experience supporting school-readiness through planned activities.

Part-time hours will be considered for this role; however, we are unable to accommodate school-hours-only availability. We currently have opportunities for 2–3 days per week, and the successful applicant must be able to work a full shift within our operating hours of 7:30am–6:00pm.
