Job Summary
This is a role that sits within the People Excellence Team within the People and Capability Group (PandC). The role of People Excellence is to provide valuable insights to help shape the People Strategy and guide in-year planning across People and Capability.

The Assurance and Information Officer will be working within the Planning, Prioritisation, Risk and Business Assurance Team. This team manages an extensive portfolio of activities, including in-year planning, delivering comprehensive reporting, briefing, and governance services for PandC, embedding best practices in risk management and leading focal point activities, including Parliamentary Questions (PQs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

As an Assurance and Information Officer, you will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information activities. Your primary focus will be on meeting statutory deadlines and upholding the highest service standards. Throughout the year, you will lead the development of key reports, ensuring that all outputs are timely, accurate, and insightful.

To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. Drawing on your knowledge and experience in reporting, ideally at a strategic level, you will excel in a dynamic environment, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes even when working to tight deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities.

Job Description
As an Assurance and Information Officer, you will

  • Monitor and effectively manage the Parliamentary Questions/Freedom of Information/Internal Reviews (PQ/FOI/IR) activity to ensure statutory deadlines and service standards are met.
  • Develop strong relationships and collaborate with PandC stakeholders, the Central FOI team, and other focal point teams across DWP to understand business priorities and ensure coordinated, timely, and accurate delivery of PQ/FOI responses.

Stage 1 - Short Application Form

Stage 2 – Online Test
After submission of the first stage of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Judgement Test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.

Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests is 23:55 on 05/01/2026. Impact for candidates

Candidates who are taking a test when the downtime starts will have their test paused. They will be able to pick up where they left off after the downtime. They can do this by accessing the test again from their application centre.

Stage 3 – Written Application and Sift
As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete a personal statement in no more than 1000 words detailing the relevant skills and experience you can bring to the role, based on the key criteria listed. Please pay particular attention to the lead criteria as if you do not demonstrate these on your application, you will not progress to the interview stage.

When completing your personal statement, please read and understand the key criteria thoroughly, as this is what your written evidence will be assessed against. Your layout is entirely your preference; you may choose narrative, bullets, etc. You may choose to address each criteria separately, however, one narrative example may cover and evidence several key criteria. You may not be able to meet all the key criteria, but please ensure you evidence the key personal requirements, what have you done that's relatable to the requirements. Stage 4 - Interview
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview lasting up to 45 minutes. This will take place MS Teams. The interview panel will be a minimum of two people and will assess Behaviours and Strengths.

Interviews are scheduled to take place from 02/02/2026, please note that these dates are only indicative at this stage and could be subject to change. Interviews will be scheduled Monday to Friday, between 09:00 to 17:00.

Hybrid Working
This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.
