Machining Centre Operative

As a Machining Centre Operative, you will play a key role in operating large CNC machine tools, ensuring production requirements are met efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
What you'll be doing
- Operate CNC machines/work centres safely and in line with current health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Work as an integral member of the machine shop team, liaising closely with production control, engineering, maintenance, and quality departments.
- Ensure all machining is performed to precise engineering drawings and specifications, maintaining quality at every stage.
- Edit and modify CNC programs as required.
- Accurately record work undertaken using the shop floor computer system and ensure all activity aligns with production schedules and standard hours.
- Use a wide range of measuring equipment, applying thorough knowledge of inspection procedures to undertake planned inspections and accurately record results.
- Select the appropriate drawings and calibrated inspection equipment to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Support the training and development of apprentices and trainees within the team.
- Demonstrate a proactive, positive approach to Health & Safety by working safely and following company policies.
- Carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be expected to support the success of the team and the business.
Who we're looking for
If you are a time served (or hold equivalent engineering qualifications) and have solid experience in CNC machining, milling, and turning we'd love to hear from you
Experience with CNC mill/turn machinery and 5-axis machining is highly advantageous.
You will be able to confidently read and interpret complex engineering drawings, ensuring accuracy in every task. You should be competent in self-inspection, using a variety of measuring instruments to maintain the highest standards of quality.
We ask that you have strong communication skills and you work just as well independently as you do within a team. We also ask that you are highly motivated, adaptable and bring a positive attitude to your work. Flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the department are also important qualities you possess.
To apply for this role, you should hold an NVQ or an equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline and have completed an engineering apprenticeship or have equivalent practical experience.
