Job overview

Community Mental Health Services in Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust have recently received extra investment to enable the development of an Intensive Assertive team to work alongside our CMHT's to provide an assertive model of care for those experiencing complex psychosis

This post is for a Community Support worker who will work with people who have a diagnosis of Psychosis along side other health and social complexities.

There are 3 posts available 1 in the East of the county, 1 in the mid and 1 in the West

The IAT team currently consist of Clinical leads, RMN's, OT and Social work roles, the team work alongside the local CMHT's

The Support Workers will work under the supervision of the other team members to provide holistic care, treatment and support to those who have traditionally been difficult to engage in Mental Health services. Experience of working with people with enduring mental health disorders, along with the ability to work in partnership with family members and VCSE /third sector services in the community is essential for these roles.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with our qualified staff to deliver specific targeted interventions for people living with complex psychosis

The post holder will be supervised by a member of qualified staff.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation.

This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in care or equivalent experience
  • A basic understanding of current National Guidelines and Mental Health Act/Mental Health Capacity Act requirements

  • Previous knowledge and experience working with individuals with complex mental health or social needs
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in community-based roles or visiting service users in their homes
