Kenton Black are recruiting for a permanent Estimator vacancy based in the Aberdeen area.

Our client — a well-established construction contractor with a strong presence across the North East of Scotland—is seeking a commercially astute and detail-oriented Estimator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of building projects, with a negotiable salary based on experience and a supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and construction projects across various sectors

  • Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to assess project scope and requirements

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations

  • Evaluate risk factors and apply appropriate contingencies in pricing

  • Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams to ensure alignment on budgets and delivery

  • Maintain and update estimating databases and cost libraries

  • Attend pre-tender meetings and contribute to bid strategy discussions

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within construction or civil engineering

  • Strong understanding of pricing methodologies and commercial principles

  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities

  • Relevant qualifications in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field
