We are seeking a technically proficient and strategically minded individual to lead the planning and assessment of a rack-mounted high-performance processing unit. This role operates within a complex computing environment and interfaces with external command and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the assessment phase of a high-performance processing unit, focusing on architecture, interface definition, and solution pathways.
  • Develop evolution themes for the processing unit, identifying future capabilities and integration opportunities.
  • Formulate initial concepts, define system interfaces, and establish a clear roadmap to solution delivery.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, especially with software engineering teams, to ensure cohesive system development.
  • Engage with external suppliers in coordination with procurement and engineering partners to align technical and delivery expectations.
  • Create and maintain a development plan that supports ongoing design maturity and transition to manufacture.

Desirable Experience:

  • Proven experience in complex processing systems, particularly those involving high-speed data transfer and external system interfacing.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering technical solutions within multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and managing technical relationships across organisational boundaries.

Reporting Line:

This role supports the Head of Equipment and operates within the broader Chief Design Engineer's organisation, contributing to strategic technical planning and delivery oversight.

Role Context:

The position balances client-facing representation with a technical leadership focus, adapting to the level of delivery responsibility held by suppliers or the Design Authority.
