London, Greater London, United Kingdom Limbic Full time £50,000 per year
About Limbic

Limbic is a London‑based clinical AI start‑up on a mission to make high‑quality mental healthcare accessible to everyone, everywhere. The way we do that is by deploying AI responsibly, using it to augment clinical care and reduce barriers to accessing therapy at scale.

Limbic is already used in over 45% of Talking Therapies in the NHS, and in some of the biggest healthcare providers in the US, which makes us the largest ever deployment of AI for direct patient care. Limbic is deemed safe and effective after successfully gaining UKCA Class IIa certification, the only AI mental health chatbot to do so.

Our products are proven to significantly improve outcomes in NHS and international health settings: increasing recovery rates, cutting dropouts, and enabling round‑the‑clock, AI‑driven intake and support. We are now looking for a mission-driven, experienced clinician to help us further accelerate our vision to build the future of mental healthcare.

The role

We're seeking a part time (2 days per week) Clinical Specialist to help deliver best-in-class AI for mental health care.

As a Clinical Specialist, you will play a key role in translating our pioneering AI research into products that tangibly improve our users' lives. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of our products, from scoping and ideation, through to prompt engineering, safety testing, and client support. This is a role for someone who is confident in their clinical decision making, and is not afraid to back up their viewpoints with real world evidence.

What you'll do

Under the supervision of our Head of Clinical, you will be the go-to person for all clinical support and requirements for our UK operations. This can include, but is not limited to:

  • Providing clinical input to support the development of new products

  • Providing feedback to support iteration on current products

  • Prompt engineering

  • Pre-deployment QA, safety, and red-team testing

  • Post deployment monitoring and transcript review

  • Delivering conference presentations, and supporting the Sales and Customer Success teams in client meetings

  • Working alongside our research team to support the development of our AI models

  • Creating content and writing copy for our products

  • Being aware of any developments in the evidence-base or mental health field more generally, and feeding these back to the company level (eg. changes in NICE guidance)

  • Generally providing clinical support to all areas of the company as and when required

Who we need

Essential requirements

Please be aware that the below are mandatory requirements, and if you do not fully meet all of them your application will not be considered.

  • You are based in the UK and have the right to work in the UK (unfortunately Limbic is unable to support visa sponsorship in this case)

  • You hold a mental health qualification which is recognised by a regulatory body (eg. practitioner psychologist, CBT therapist, PWP, counsellor, psychiatrist)

  • You have at least 3 years post-qualification experience (which must include directly delivering therapy to patients)

  • You are confident using Google Workspace

  • You have an awareness of what AI is, and how it can be used effectively in healthcare

  • You have (some) knowledge of how to instruct LLMs using prompt engineering (though don't necessarily need to have done this before)

  • You believe in the value AI can have in supporting patients and clinicians within the UK healthcare system

  • You are confident in your ability to speak in front of groups and deliver presentations

  • You have strong knowledge about, and are able to input on, how best to engage patients, what makes effective therapy, current best practise, and how to ensure our products safely identify and respond to risk

  • You are able to write engaging but concise mental health content

  • You are able to multi-task and switch focus between teams and projects, whilst working to tight deadlines

Non-essential requirements

Applications without the following will still be considered, however having them is a bonus.

  • You are able to travel to London at least once per month to work from our office in Shoreditch

  • You have experience working within the NHS

  • You have experience working within healthtech

  • You have experience (and the relevant qualification) delivering CBT to patients (+ another modality also preferred)

  • You have experience in prompt engineering

What we offer
  • £50k salary (pro rata 2 days per week)

  • 25 days paid leave + bank holidays

  • 4 'Quarterly Life Days' - one paid day off per quarter to use whenever you choose to relax, recharge, or take care of personal matters

  • Pension scheme

  • Enhanced parental leave packages

  • An amazing office in central London

  • Equity share options

  • Support with purchasing work-related books and materials

  • Access to free mental health support

  • The opportunity to work alongside experts in their fields in a world-leading company

  • An inclusive, collaborative, supportive working environment, where you will have direct access to clinical support and supervision at all times (within working hours) from our Head of Clinical

Please note that we are expecting a high volume of applications for this role, and therefore may close the job posting at any time. If you are interested, then we suggest you apply asap.
