Cook – Sophie House

We are looking for an experienced Cook/Chef to join our friendly team at Sophie House.

The successful candidate will join an established kitchen team, preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for our residents.

We support people with profound learning disabilities and complex health needs, which may influence how someone can eat and drink. Our team of cooks therefore make adjustments to accommodate varying dysphagia needs (swallowing difficulties), which may include providing bite-size foods or pureed meals. Training is provided from our Therapy team.

Our team of dedicated cooks are an integral part of our Care team, enabling us to provide a truly holistic approach to care for each of our 14 residents.

The role involves cooking and baking for both residents and staff. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced Cook/Chef, who also has an interest in baking. Previous food preparation and cooking experience in a professional kitchen is required.

Hours: 24 to 32 hours per week, over 3 or 4 days, on a shift rota basis, including weekends.

Bank Holiday and weekend working is shared fairly between the team, including Christmas and New Year. Weekends are on average 2 per month. The role involves some lone-working, as well as working as part of a small team.
