Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a rapidly growing & successful financial services group to recruit a dynamic & hands-on Accountant to join their accounting team in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, for a 12-month fixed-term contract. A fast-paced accounting role where you will ensure accuracy/efficiency in a broad position involving both management and financial accounting processes, through to oversight of transactional duties. The position will offer remote/office hybrid working of 2 days on-site, 3 days remote, along with a competitive group benefits package. Open to finance professionals who are qualified/part-qualified or qualified by experience, ideally available on short-notice, but a notice period will be waited for the right candidate.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve preparing management accounts, consolidating financial reports, and completing regulatory returns. You will prepare statutory accounts, process/approve/review journals, along with processing/reviewing journals. You will monitor cash movements & balances, processing payroll along with maintaining client records & reconciling ledgers. You will approve payments, engage with regulatory bodies & auditors along with ensuring policies, procedures & controls are well documented, followed & updated. You will assist with audits, be involved in ad-hoc projects to support organisational growth & support training/development within the accounting team.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this progressive Client Finance Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, ideally qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or part-qualified/finalist, qualified by experience accountants will also be considered. You will have experience of preparing management accounts, annual reports & financial statements. Strong attention to detail, key organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads to meet deadlines. You will have key problem-solving skills, a strong team player with excellent communication skills to build both internal/external relationships with key MS Excel & financial systems experience. Experience within the financial services & insurance sectors with knowledge of regulatory returns along with financial systems experience with SUN or Sage Intacct would be advantageous but not essential.

This Client Finance Accountant role offers a salary between £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependable on experience based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
