Maintenance Technician
We're on the lookout for a Maintenance Technician, responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of show equipment, rides, theming, and the facility, based at our Southbank attractions: London Dungeon and Shrek's Adventure.
Who wouldn't want a job where you can experience being part of a fairy-tale and explore London's murky past as part of your daily work?
On a typical day (if you can call it that) you may be working at either attraction, carrying out electrical and mechanical inspections and maintenance tasks. That means dealing with both routine upkeep and unexpected breakdowns—so you'll need to be quick, careful, and effective when diagnosing and fixing issues. Your hands-on experience will help keep rides and themed areas running smoothly, making sure guests get the best experience possible.
You'll also take care of planned preventative maintenance checks, complete tasks assigned through work orders, and handle installation, repair, and general upkeep. Any follow-up actions from inspections will need to be flagged to the Technical Supervisor and completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
This is a public-facing role at times, so you'll need to be comfortable interacting with guests of all ages and be someone who takes pride in great customer service. You'll also be a strong team player who's ready to pitch in and help solve problems when they arise. In all tasks, attention to quality and safety will be key.
This is a full-time, permanent position and includes working a fair share of weekends and bank holidays. Our attractions are open every day, so flexibility around peak times is important.
Qualifications & Experience
- Ideally with an electrical bias, you'll hold an ONC or HNC in an engineering discipline and have completed and indentured apprenticeship in either electrical or mechanical production
- Able to work under pressure in a heavily guest focused environment
- Flexible
- High personal standards, strong personal motivation, as well as the motivation to deliver the best for our business and our guests
- A positive and self-motivated individual with a strong eye for detail and who takes pride in their work
- Must be a time served apprentice with several years of experience in a multi-skilled environment
Benefits
Alongside providing vital support to the London attractions, you'll also receive:
- 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants and 40% off LEGO online
- Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to all our attractions worldwide for you, your family, and friends every year
- Enjoy the Ride Pass, giving you and 5 others a Merlin Annual Pass
- Rail annual season ticket loan
- Non-contractual bonus
- Discounted rates at Merlin hotels all over the world
- Employee pricing up to 55% off cinema tickets
If you have any questions or if you require any assistance, because of a disability or medical condition, please contact us by email at
