We have an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join Story Geotech and begin their Story. We are looking for someone who embodies are values of being hardworking, grounded and proud of the work they do.

The Role

As part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and reporting to the Lead Quantity Surveyor you will manage project costs from concept to completion. You will oversee contractual commitments and challenge and support to identify best value solutions. With excellent communication skills, you will be client focused with the ability to build and manage effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, internal colleagues and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender submissions.
  • Produce regular cost forecasts, valuations, and cashflow reports.
  • Administer contracts, manage variations, and negotiate final accounts.
  • Measure works on site and maintain accurate cost records.
  • Liaise with project managers, procurement, subcontractors, and clients to resolve commercial issues.
  • Manage subcontractor payment applications and procurement packages.
  • Identify commercial risks and propose mitigation to protect margins.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating and commercial procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Degree level qualification or HND/HNC equivalent
  • Previous experience of working within rail, infrastructure and civil engineering sectors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages and CEMAR
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent numeracy, negotiation and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
