Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary teamand work along side our head chef. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong desire to support our kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly, assisting with meal preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
  • Running solo service confidently
  • Support chefs and cooks in the cooking process by following instructions and recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and utensils.
  • Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of food items.
  • Help with the setup and breakdown of catering events as required.
  • Assist in inventory management by keeping track of supplies and notifying supervisors when stock is low.
  • Participate in kitchen team meetings to discuss menu changes or improvements.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is essential
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills.
  • Understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards. Level 2 Food and hygiene certificate essential
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if required.
