Purpose
- The role is critical in developing the overall strategy and plans for delivery of the NSSS Piping programme during the define Phase 1 period that spans financial close through to commencement of on-site construction; a period of approximately 6-years. Critical aspects of the role will be the realisation and practical application of replication, definition of adoption of modular methods of construction/offsite working and leading the development of the project execution plan for Phase 1. Key aspects and topics within the project execution plan will be the estimate and schedule for phase 1, delivery strategy for the work including procurement and the adoption of learning from experience from HPC and other EPR projects.
- The unique aspects of the role include multiple and complex interfaces both only across the three mini-consortia partners but also integration of MEHA within the two area programmes (NI and CI & NSSS). Due cognisance will need to be given to simultaneous construction operations created by the demanding compressed schedule and coincident civil engineering works to be performed by the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) in parallel to the MEHA installation and construction scope. This creates an environment of simultaneous operations that needs a dedicated and skilled team to effectively plan and navigate from a safety and constructability perspective.
- This position will report to the SZC MEHA Piping programme manager and will work alongside other members of the SZC MEHA team to develop the necessary strategies and plans to enable to full development for the NSSS piping programme.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the delivery of the SZC MEH NSSS Piping Programme scope during the phase 1 period of work in design, supplier management, qualification and support the development and execution of the bulk strategy and spool fabrication.
- Effectively lead a small but high-performing team with autonomy, referencing back to senior leadership for guidance and support on critical matters.
- Operate effectively within a complex matrix organisation and in multidisciplinary working groups.
- Have adequate cross sector experience and communication skills to be able to influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Be a contributor to the overall output and related strategies of the MEH team.
- These accountabilities are not an exhaustive list of the responsibilities and activities that the job holder may be required to undertake.
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Project manager experience.
- Educated to Degree in mechanical engineering
- Proven leadership experience and ability to work with minimum supervision in highly regulated environments
- A proven and demonstrable experience in piping delivery, NSSS experience a plus.
- Experience of managing and co-ordination major EPC contractors, interfacing with a suite of suppliers, disciplines, stakeholders and integration of the same into the overall project program.
- Experience of developing plans and strategies which support HSE risk reduction, as well as schedule optimisation and cost reduction.
- Always adopting safe working practices in accordance with statutory and company operating procedures.
- Contribute to identification of potential Hazards and associated Risks, as well as other project risks, that may arise during execution of the works and propose the necessary safeguards and mitigations.
- Providing support as required to planning process and the preparation of specific workstream project risk assessments.
- Familiarity with Modern Methods of Construction and preference for demonstrable application of the same.
- Keeping abreast of new initiatives and technologies within the Construction discipline
- Adhering to the Company's Health, Safety & Environment policies, procedures, and standards.
Additional Qualifications/ Experience:
- Experience leading and developing high performing multi-cultural teams.
- High flexibility required to integrate German teams delivering HPC NSSS programme: regular travels to Germany, deep dive on site during installation.
