Assistant Production Manager (Glasshouse - Living Herbs Operations)

Lincolnshire Herbs Ltd – Full-time | Permanent

Working hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00am – 2:30pm

We are looking for a proactive, fast-thinking Assistant Production Manager to support our glasshouse operation and the full growing cycle of fresh herbs.

This is not a typical manufacturing production role. You'll be working within our vibrant glasshouse environment, supporting all stages from sowing and planting through to harvesting, packing and dispatch. A key part of the role is coaching and developing Team Leaders across these areas, ensuring they have the support they need to manage their teams effectively.

Because orders fluctuate daily and sometimes multiple times a day, we need someone who is highly adaptable, confident with labour planning, and able to make quick operational decisions while keeping the business efficient and profitable. The right person will be switched on, calm under pressure, and able to think ahead to anticipate plant health and production needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily production planning and workflow to meet customer demand.

  • Lead, coach, and motivate production teams to achieve targets in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Promote a strong Health & Safety culture and ensure compliance with company procedures.

  • Maintain high standards of GMP, hygiene, and food safety, ensuring audit readiness (BRC, Red Tractor, LEAF).

  • Monitor KPIs, labour utilisation, and efficiency, identifying and implementing improvements.

  • Work collaboratively with Technical, HR, and other departments to resolve issues and support operational goals.

  • Provide cover for the Production Manager when required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has leadership experience in production, agriculture, horticulture or FMCG
  • Can manage frequent staffing amendments and ensure coverage across all areas
  • Is proactive, organised and able to stay steady under pressure
  • Understands the importance of plant health and operational flow
  • Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
