We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to work with our Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of patients in the Stroke and Neurology service.
The successful candidate will be the Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant supporting the therapy team on Beech Ward, St Margaret's Hospital, and in the stroke ESD service in the community across West Essex.
ROLE SUMMARY
Within the West Essex ESD Stroke and Neurology Service, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the Occupational Therapists with day to day delivery of service for patients on the Beech Ward Inpatient Rehab Unit and on the West Essex ESD caseload. This will include assessment and manualised treatment for patients on a one to one basis, or in groups, audit and data management, equipment assessment and ordering, and supporting service development projects. This will be under the direction of a qualified Occupational Therapist who will retain clinical responsibility for clinical work delegated to and carried out, provided that the clinical work is within the team protocols and care plan specified.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide support to the Occupational Therapists in assessment and treatment of patients within the service.
To assist in the development of an evidence based framework of appropriate assessment and intervention to the benefit of clients of the service.
To have a good working knowledge of stroke and other neurological conditions and how subsequent impairments may present and impact on presentation and function.
To act in such a way that safeguards the health and wellbeing of children & vulnerable adults at all times. To follow EPUT safeguarding policies.
To undertake continued professional development in line with Royal College of Occupational Therapy recommendations, in order to develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.
To contribute to staff development in teaching more junior staff and students.
To develop and maintain the highest standards of professional practice through an identified programme of continued professional development agreed with Line Manager.
To adhere to the codes of conduct of the Health & Care Professions Council, Royal College of Occupational Therapy and to all Trust policies and procedures.
To undergo regular performance appraisal and review with their Supervisor/Line Manager.
To work within a 7-day working service, completing weekend and Bank Holiday shifts as per rota.
Promote and value the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people ensuring religious and cultural needs are addressed.
To perform other duties appropriate to the grade of Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner (OT AP) as may be requested by the OT Team lead or service coordinator.
