Associate Cost Manager

We are lucky to be working on a fantastic client side role with a leading flexible workspace developer and operator.

This company have a growing portfolio of over 70 quality and distinctive spaces spans 3.2 million sq ft with 30,000 members across London, the UK and Germany.

They are at the luxury end of the workspace industry and are focused on hospitality-style service, top amenities and sought-after locations.

The Role

We are looking for an associate level cost management/ quantity surveying professional from a consultancy background with experience in commercial office fit out and/or corporate real estate.

The role provides a single point of responsibility for all cost budgeting, forecasting, management and reporting both within the Design and Development function including Day 1 new buildings, major refurbishments of existing buildings and the regular churn of alterations across the whole portfolio. In addition, the role will track and report upon cross-functional CapEx budgets i.e. budgets held by other departments but executed by D&D.

The role will work together with Commercial Finance to turn capital management into cashflow forecasting and management, acting as a central source of business intelligence to the success of the company.

The role covers both internal staff and oversight of the output of external consultants providing Cost Management services.

Cost Management Process

• Review and understand the current CapEx Cost Management Process and ensure compliance with these processes.
• Critically assess the current CapEx Cost Management Process in real time and make suggestions for improvement in the process as needed.
• Ensure internal stakeholders understand the requirements of the current CapEx Cost Management Process and offer any support as needed to ensure the process is followed.

Leadership and Management

• Support members of the wider team in developing their professional skills, motivating them to achieve their goals and objectives.
• Understand and communicate the objectives of internal stakeholders and /or consultants.
• Prepare and deliver a well-structured factual presentation to internal / external stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects at any one time.
• Delegate control of projects to relevant teams while staying sufficiently in touch to maintain responsibility and accountability.

Desired

• Extensive experience / postgraduate professional experience in surveying or development.
• Track record of delivering outstanding design-led projects.
• Experience in managing a large team, mentoring and developing more junior team members in meeting their potential.
• Experience in the workplace sector preferred.
• Understanding, if not experience, of the flexible workspace sector.
• Experience in the hospitality, retail or entertainment sectors.
• Strong knowledge of global procurement trends and experience outside the UK is an advantage.
• RICS chartered surveying membership preferred.
• BSc/MSc in relevant design course preferable.
• Good business acumen and commercial understanding.
• Excellent understanding and skills - MS Office.
• Experience in partnering with Senior Stakeholders.
• Collaborative.
• Leadership qualities, including the ability to relate to a vision and goals and to empower to achieve them.
• Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
