We are seeking a Business Line Owner – Fan (Subscription) on a 6 month fixed term contract to lead the way we engage, grow, and retain our audience. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our digital business, combining strategic vision with hands-on delivery. You will be responsible for deepening relationships with our users, turning casual visitors into loyal fans, and driving the growth of our subscription offering.
At the core of this role you will be working closely with Product, Marketing, and external partners, to define and execute strategies that enhance the customer journey, grow recurring subscription revenues, and create meaningful, long-term value for both our audience and the business. This is an opportunity to shape how we connect with our fans and to build a subscription business that is scalable, sustainable, and commercially successful.
To summarise, you will:
- Engage and grow the audience building loyalty, community, and deeper relationships across digital platforms
- Drive subscription growth by taking a data-driven approach to growing the subscription business (owned/operated and whitelabel) through organic and paid channels
- Lead cross-functional strategy working closesly with Product, Marketing, and partners to optimise journeys, pricing, and scalable growth
You will be responsible for:
Drive deeper engagement with our audience
- Define and deliver an engagement strategy that builds loyalty and community across our digital platforms.
- Partner with Marketing, Product, and Editorial teams to design campaigns and experiences that delight our audience.
Ownership of subscription growth
- Lead the subscription growth strategy across owned and operated products, as well as white-label partnerships.
- Define and deliver acquisition, retention, and monetisation initiatives.
- Take ownership of subscription revenue targets and KPIs (MRR, LTV, CAC payback, churn).
Product and Marketing collaboration
- Work with Product teams to optimise onboarding, paywalls, pricing, and feature gating.
- Collaborate with Marketing to ensure effective positioning, lifecycle marketing, and acquisition funnels.
- Drive experimentation (A/B tests, pricing trials, offers) to improve conversion and retention.
Best practice and data-driven growth
- Establish and champion subscription growth best practice across the company.
- Build and monitor dashboards, carrying out deep analysis of funnel performance, cohorts, churn, and ARPU.
- Translate insights into actionable growth playbooks and scalable strategies.
Partnership management
- Develop and optimise white-label subscription models with partners.
- Ensure smooth operational alignment across billing, entitlements, and product delivery.
- Balance partner needs with sustainable growth principles.

Your skillset:
- Proven track record in scaling subscription businesses (ideally within consumer digital, media, or SaaS).
- Strong understanding of subscription metrics, retention levers, and growth loops.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Marketing.
- Analytical and data-driven, with strong commercial acumen.
- Ability to balance growth with profitability.
- Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, willing to dive into the detail to make things happen.
- Excellent communicator and stakeholder manager.
