The Role
As a Product Support Engineer, you will support our fleet of devices deployed both externally As a Product Support Technician, you will provide hands-on support to our existing fleet of devices. You will help assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot prototype systems across electronic, software, and mechanical domains, ensuring they are reliable, functional, and ready for internal and external use. Additionally, you will assist the product development organisation with electronics and mechanical rework, testing, and construction of cables and test fixtures.
This role is ideal for a technician with strong hands-on skills, a process mindset, and an interest in supporting products throughout their life cycle.
At CoMind, all team members work at least 4 days per week from our new Kings Cross offices, plus a flexible work-from-home day.
Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining and supporting an existing fleet of prototypes, including assembly, rework, calibration, and updates.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting across electronics, basic software setup, and mechanical assemblies.
Conduct repairs, part replacements, board rework, and system-level checks under engineer guidance.
Perform soldering (through-hole and SMT rework), crimping, cable assembly, and general electronics handling.
Use lab tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, microscopes, and test jigs.
Support optical subsystem alignment or testing where applicable (experience not required, training provided).
Assemble mechanical subcomponents, housings, and fixtures with high attention to detail.
Skills & Experience:
2+ years of experience as an engineering technician, product support technician, manufacturing technician, or similar hands-on role.
Strong proficiency with lab tools (oscilloscope, DMM, PSU, etc.) and general test/measurement practices.
Solid soldering skills, including board rework and wiring/cable assembly.
Ability to follow and help improve technical documentation, including work instructions and test procedures.
Hands-on aptitude with mechanical assembly, hand tools, and troubleshooting.
Strong organisation, documentation, and communication skills.
Familiarity with optics, optical alignment, or optical instrumentation (a plus but not required).
Experience supporting prototype hardware or small-batch builds.
Familiarity with electronics fundamentals and basic embedded/software concepts.
Experience in medical devices, regulated industries, or ISO 13485 environments.
Experience using Jira, Confluence, or other documentation systems.
