A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply team is seeking a highly motivated
Materials Characterisation Scientist
to join their analytical sciences division. This role focuses on characterising and comparing alternate suppliers of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using a broad range of analytical techniques.

Role Overview

You'll be responsible for designing and executing laboratory experiments to assess the physical and chemical properties of APIs from different suppliers. Your findings will help evaluate potential risks to drug product manufacturing processes and may include performance prediction using small-scale formulation methods. Results will be documented in detailed technical reports to support decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to characterise API materials
  • Apply techniques such as particle size analysis, microscopy (light & SEM), thermal analysis, solid form identification, spectroscopy, powder flow, and density testing
  • Ensure all work complies with GLP, SOPs, and internal protocols
  • Maintain clear and timely documentation of laboratory activities
  • Summarise findings in technical reports for cross-functional review
  • Contribute to lab initiatives including My Green Lab and 5S practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline (essential)
