Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join Braeburn Home. Braeburn is a small independent nursing home.

As Chef, you will be part of a small kitchen team, serving delicious, well-balanced, and nutritious meals that our residents will love. Working closely with the Head Chef, and deputising in their absence, you'll provide high-quality food service to support residents, responding to their needs and contributing to their overall positive experience in the home. You will also help to ensure the Kitchen is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations.

Duties

  • Preparing and supervising the preparation of food, taking into account the individual needs of our residents, particularly meals of different consistencies or for specific diet types
  • Maintaining an appropriately stocked kitchen, in line with residents likes and the menu, and within budget. Keeping appropriate files including purchase orders, invoices and receipts
  • Complying with and ensuring implementation from all staff of safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen
  • Store food in compliance with safety practices and ensure appropriate dating and stock rotation
  • Ensure our residents have a pleasant and consistent dining experience, no matter the consistency of food or dietary restrictions
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus and develop new recipes that align with seasonal ingredients and resident preferences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef, care home experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
  • Excellent culinary skills with the ability to create diverse dishes that appeal to various palates.
  • Strong communication skills with the team and residents.
  • A passion for cooking and a desire to continually improve
