As Fund Accountant, you will report directly to the Head of Fund Finance in London and have high level exposure to all aspects of this dynamic business.

We are looking for candidates who want to be part of a dynamic and growing company and are willing to actively contribute to the expansion of the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to work in the Venture Capital sector and to develop a strong understanding of legal, operational and administrative issues associated with Venture Capital Funds.

THE ROLE

A significant part of C5's fund operations are outsourced, and will be reporting to the Head of Fund Finance, your role will include the following:

  • Perform fund accounting tasks that include but are not limited to handling investors transactions, producing NAVs (capital account statements, quarterly portfolio reviews), capital calls, supporting distributions, preparing annual financial statements
  • Support some of the reporting and administration of some of the US corporate and general partner entities.
  • Manage the accounting for the fund including liquidity management, processing expenses, budgeting, overseeing audit and tax and regulatory filing preparation
  • Enhance our fund accounting processes by working closely with our Investment and Investor Relations teams to implement improvements, efficiencies, and move towards more automated fund accounting workstreams
  • Support Investor Relations team with the preparation of special investor reports, i.e. investor confirmations, fund expense breakdowns, calculation of look-through investment holdings
  • Engage with service providers and auditors and deliver to deadlines, ensuring compliance and regulatory standards are met

ESSENTIAL KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate with a positive attitude who can operate collaboratively to deliver results in a fast-moving dynamic working environment.

An ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Sector experience within venture capital and private equity
  • Prior experience in the preparation of fund accounts and financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS accounting standards, and SEC financial reporting standards
  • Sound knowledge of SEC control environment and best practice
  • Strong understanding of complex fund accounting mechanisms, specifically for closed-end funds
  • Finance certifications (CPA, ACA, or equivalent)
  • Strong attention to detail, resilience, and ability to multi- task
  • Proficiency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and part of a global finance team.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably Finance, Accounting and Economics related subjects
  • 4-5 years of total work experience preferred.
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred but not essential
  • Advanced excel skills is beneficial.
  • Sound knowledge of general IT systems
