Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Locum Specialist Registrar in General Medicine to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive medical care, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting clinical operations within a dynamic hospital or clinic setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical knowledge, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and excellent communication skills to deliver exceptional patient service and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical collection and history taking
- Document clinical encounters accurately using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others
- Review and update patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy standards
- Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding for diagnosis documentation and billing processes
- Assist in care plan development and coordinate treatment strategies with multidisciplinary teams
- Perform medical billing tasks including CPT coding and insurance verification
- Support administrative functions such as appointment scheduling, patient intake, and front desk duties with professionalism and courtesy
- Manage medical records filing, documentation review, and data entry using Microsoft Office and specialized practice management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix when applicable
- Maintain knowledge of health information management practices and ensure accurate coding for Medicare and other insurance providers
- Uphold patient confidentiality, demonstrate excellent phone etiquette, and provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Medical qualification with appropriate licensure for specialist registrar roles in general medicine
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and Medicare regulations
- Prior clinic or hospital experience preferred; familiarity with medical administrative support roles such as medical receptionist or front desk operations highly advantageous
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and data entry (10 key typing)
- Ability to review complex documentation accurately while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and health information management best practices
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a clinical setting
