Overview
Cakepops et al Ltd is a premier UK artisan dessert company, specialising in luxury handcrafted confections bespoke tiered cakes, gourmet dessert jars, cupcakes and cakesicles. We serve high‑end occasions including weddings, birthdays, corporate events and baby reveals, and supply select retail partners, cafés, event planners and venues across the UK from our Durham kitchen. As we pivot into a scalable B2B model, we seek a dynamic Business Development Manager to lead our growth strategy and commercial partnerships
Responsibilities
- Identify and map new market opportunities, channels and customer segments for our premium dessert offerings.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and partnership strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Prospect, engage and secure new B2B clients (retail chains, cafés, corporate clients, event planners/venues).
- Negotiate commercial contracts, structure partnerships, ensure profitable terms and manage the lifecycle of the relationships.
- Collaborate with operations, logistics and marketing functions to ensure delivery capability, logistical excellence and brand integrity.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, pipeline health, market trends and competitor activity; adjust strategy accordingly.
- Build and maintain key industry contacts, attend trade shows/events, represent the brand at partner engagements.
- Contribute to the professionalisation of our commercial processes, CRM utilisation, sales tracking, dashboards and growth infrastructure.
Experience
- Proven track record in business development or sales roles within a comparable industry.
- Proven track record in B2B business development, partnership management and contract negotiation.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical and planning skills; able to translate opportunity into commercial outcomes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – adept at building relationships at senior levels.
- Self‑starter with ambition and drive to deliver growth in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in retail, FMCG, food‑service or hospitality sectors would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, customer needs analysis, and strategic planning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate persuasively at all levels of an organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet targets within a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in negotiating contracts and closing high-value deals is highly desirable.
