About The Opportunity

Pensions Coordinator
to join our dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a understanding of pension schemes.
As Pensions Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the delivery of services to both current and potential members of the
Firefighters' Pension Scheme
and
Local Government Pension Scheme
. Your responsibilities will include liaising with pension scheme administrators, managing member data, ensuring accurate reporting, and providing guidance on pension matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaison & Coordination: Work closely with the West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) and the County Council Pension Scheme to ensure smooth operations for both Firefighters' and Local Government pension schemes.
- Data Accuracy: Ensure that member data, payroll submissions, and pension scheme records are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Member Support: Act as the first point of contact for pension enquiries, providing professional advice and support to members and potential members.
- Pension Documentation & Procedures: Review, update, and maintain pension-related documentation, ensuring that processes within the Service are efficient and compliant.
- Audit & Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate audit trails for all pension records, ensuring information is readily available when required by relevant bodies.
- Collaboration: Work alongside HR, Payroll, and Finance teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date data, and assist with pension-related calculations for key projects such as the McCloud and Sargeant Age Discrimination Remedy Projects.
Person Specification
Essential Skills And Experience
- Proven experience in a Payroll or Finance environment.
- Educated to A-Level standard, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Analytical, methodical approach with a high attention to detail.
- Experience in policy development and the ability to interpret complex legislative information into clear, actionable formats.
Desirable Skills
- Understanding of public service pension schemes, specifically Firefighters' and Local Government Pension Schemes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other IT tools.
