This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and an understanding of pension schemes.Location: Fire Service Headquarters, Pirehill, Stone, Staffs, ST15 0BSSalary: Grade 6 (£31,537 - £34,434 p.a.)Hours: Full TimeContract Type: PermanentReporting to: Head of Pensions and PayrollKey ResponsibilitiesLiaison & Coordination: Work closely with the West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) and the County Council Pension Scheme to ensure smooth operations for both Firefighters’ and Local Government pension schemes.Data Accuracy: Ensure that member data, payroll submissions, and pension scheme records are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant regulations.Member Support: Act as the first point of contact for pension enquiries, providing professional advice and support to members and potential members.Pension Documentation & Procedures: Review, update, and maintain pension‑related documentation, ensuring that processes within the Service are efficient and compliant.Audit & Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate audit trails for all pension records, ensuring information is readily available when required by relevant bodies.Collaboration: Work alongside HR, Payroll, and Finance teams to ensure accurate and up to date data, and assist with pension‑related calculations for key projects such as the McCloud and Sargeant Age Discrimination Remedy Projects.Person SpecificationEssential Skills And ExperienceProven experience in a Payroll or Finance environment.Educated to A‑Level standard, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.Analytical, methodical approach with a high attention to detail.Experience in policy development and the ability to interpret complex legislative information into clear, actionable formats.Desirable SkillsUnderstanding of public service pension schemes, specifically Firefighters’ and Local Government Pension Schemes.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other IT tools.BenefitsA competitive salary and pension package.Full‑time, permanent role with an opportunity to make a significant impact in a highly valued public service.The chance to work in a supportive, dynamic team environment.How to ApplyPlease submit your CV along with a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.Important DatesClosing Date: Tuesday 9th December 2025 at 12pm MiddayInterview Date: Week commencing 15th December 2025Equality, Diversity & InclusionStaffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to promoting equality and diversity in the workplace.
