The Production Guild of Great Britain represents the professional interests of film and high-end television drama industry production practitioners. Our 1,000+ strong membership work at all levels in the production office, production accounts, location management, assistant directing, post production and VFX.

Job Title: Director of Membership Services

Overview: The Production Guild of Great Britain are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to head our Industry Access, Training and Memberships team. This role will lead a team responsible for supporting, growing, and championing our UK-wide membership of film and television professionals. Based outside London, the role plays a lead role in building strong regions and nations industry connections, increasing access to industry opportunities, and ensuring our offer authentically reflects the needs of our diverse and growing UK wide membership.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Direct Line Manage: Head of Membership & Head of Talent Development

Contract: Full time, permanent. (potential for min 3-day week for right candidate)

Location: Remote. Based in the Nations or Regions outside London (inc. access to hot desks across UK)

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, manage and support the membership and training teams to deliver a clear strategy to enable effective membership services, including training, industry access, career support and resource provision.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Ensure the team meets objectives and delivers high-quality support to members.
  • Manage departmental budget and income targets.
  • Part of the PGGB leadership team setting the company strategy.

Membership Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and deliver a UK-wide membership growth strategy, with a strong focus on increasing engagement in the region and nations.
  • Build partnerships with industry and nations and regional organisations, training providers, and industry bodies to attract and retain members across the UK with a focus on current member growth and new member attraction.
  • Revise and lead the PGGB Nations and Regions committees.
  • Support the CEO deliver the PGGB Industry Advisory Group.
  • Strengthen relationships with broadcasters and streamers and explore opportunities to partner on training and facilitate their freelance hire requirements.
  • Monitor and analyse membership data to inform strategy and improve member experience.

Member Services & Industry Access

  • Oversee the design and delivery of member services in collaboration with the Head of Memberships and Head of Talent Development, including career development support, job access initiatives, training programmes, and curated resources.
  • Oversee and support implementation of a revised training provision for members including curating and signposting to valued third party resources. Lead the creation of a training strategy along with the Head of Talent Development that includes where PGGB can add best value in bespoke training it provides to meet member's needs and work collaboratively to secure funding to deliver.
  • Ensure services are relevant, accessible and equitable, reflecting the evolving needs of members across different career stages and regions.
  • Work with industry partners to create new opportunities for members to connect with employers, productions, and professional networks.

Regional Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the organisation in key events, festivals, and industry forums.
  • Act as a visible advocate for the organisation and its members outside London, building trust and visibility in underserved areas.
  • Work in collaboration with the Marketing, Communications and Event teams to ensure value and impact for members of PGGB outreach and engagement strategies.

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Monitor impact and performance of membership initiatives, reporting regularly to CEO and set and monitor KPIs for membership services.
  • Use data, insights and feedback to continuously improve the membership offer.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of the UK film and television landscape and specifically the regional and nations industry infrastructure.
  • Strong relationships with senior nations and regions freelancers, Production Companies, broadcasters and streamers.
  • Proven experience leading teams in a membership, talent development, or industry context.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective strategies for growth.
  • Excellent knowledge and stakeholder engagement both with public and industry and relationship-building skills, particularly with regional and national partners.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the screen industries.
  • Experience of overseeing and leading industry training and workforce development for the workforce.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with underrepresented communities in the screen sector.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and skills development within film and TV.
  • Budget management.
