Job Title: Social Media Marketing Manager
Salary: £45,100 - £60,400
Location: Cambridge, UK (hybrid working available, min. 2 days per week in office)
Contract: Fixed term/Secondment (12 months), Full time (35 hours per week)
This is an exciting opportunity for a marketer with a passion for social media to join the Academic product group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment and use their expertise and knowledge to shape the social media strategy that promotes our world-leading research books and journals, education products and services
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About The Role
As Social Media Marketing Manager within the Academic Marketing Department, you will use your expertise to lead the social media strategy for our product accounts and propose a set of recommendations that you will then manage and implement —optimising our social channels to drive engagement, foster brand awareness, achieve key business objectives, and improve ROI.
You'll also establish processes for administration, monitoring, and analysis, and set up a social media council to ensure continuity after the secondment.
Collaboration is key: you'll work with the Brand Communications Team, External Communications & Brand Team, and marketing colleagues to encourage best practice, provide training, and monitor account and channel performance.
Key accountabilities include:
- Collaborating with senior management to deliver and implement a social media strategy for Academic product accounts.
- Managing and optimising social media channels and advertising to drive business objectives and ensure accessibility.
- Establishing and running a governance programme for product social media accounts, including annual audits and account management processes.
- Managing our social media management platform (currently Sprout Social) and contributing to renewal and tender processes.
- Advising and monitoring external CUP-owned product social media accounts and representing Academic on the organisation-wide Social Media Working Group.
- Developing processes for social media training, policy reviews, and championing best practices.
- Defining KPIs, reporting on campaign effectiveness, and making recommendations for improvement.
- Driving innovation by testing new approaches, platforms, and tools, and optimising the use of automation and AI.
About You
You have a deep understanding of social media and its role within marketing, with a proven track record in digital marketing channels such as email, social media, SEO, mobile, and online advertising. You are highly organised, an excellent communicator, and confident leading projects and working groups.
Essential skills and experience:
- Expertise in social media, digital marketing and content strategies
- Experience in project management and procurement
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using tools like Google Analytics, Dimensions, and Altmetric
- Ability to create, implement, and optimise social media strategies aligned with business goals
- Excellent relationship-building, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Proactive, solution-focused, and innovative mindset
- Ideally an understanding of scholarly publishing
