About The Digital Content Producer Role
The Digital Copywriter will be responsible for planning and creating digital content across website, e-mails and social media to engage and inform key audiences for Royal Voluntary Service, as well as for its innovative new volunteering platform, GoVo. This role will play a crucial part in enhancing the organisation's online presence, improving user experience, and creating and supporting digital marketing campaigns that align with the overall marketing strategy.

Key to this role is developing high-quality, engaging digital content and copy that resonates with target audiences (public, volunteer, third sector and corporates), enhances the brand, and drives traffic to the organisation's websites and social media platforms. The Digital Copywriter will work closely with the wider marketing team and design and communications departments to ensure content is impactful and on-brand.

Job Requirements
This is what we're looking for:
Knowledge

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Digital Marketing, Communications, Journalism) or significant experience in a similar digital content role.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, content management systems (CMS), and digital marketing tools.
  • Knowledge of digital copywriting best practices and online audience engagement strategies.
  • Understanding of web analytics and content performance measurement tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights).
  • Awareness of trends in social media platforms and digital content formats.
  • Understanding of brand voice, tone, and messaging across different digital channels.

Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences and platforms.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including CMS, social media management platforms, and Google Analytics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading abilities to ensure content accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teams and departments to create cohesive content strategies.
  • Time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creativity and ability to generate fresh, innovative content ideas that resonate with audiences.
  • Basic graphic design skills using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva (preferred).
  • Ability to analyse content performance and make data-driven decisions to improve results.

Experience

  • Proven experience in creating and managing digital content across multiple channels (web, social media, email, etc.), evidenced through a portfolio showcasing work by audience and channels.
  • Experience with SEO techniques and optimisation of content for search engines.
  • Experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, etc.).
  • Previous experience managing social media platforms, including creating content calendars and community engagement.
  • Experience in analysing digital content performance and providing actionable insights for improvement.
  • Experience working within a team environment and collaborating with cross-functional departments.
  • Experience with email marketing tools and content distribution.

Job Responsibilities
This is what you'll be doing:

  • Create and manage digital content across a range of platforms, primarily web and social.
  • Be the primary author of copy on the organisation's website, but also support with blogs, newsletters, social media posts and other channels as required.
  • Optimise content for SEO and user experience, ensuring it is easily discoverable, engaging, and informative.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, design, and communications, to ensure content meets audience needs and objectives.
  • Develop and implement a digital content plan that aligns with the organisation's marketing and communications goals.
  • Devise creative campaigns which propel our channels forward and deliver our strategic ambitions.
  • Analyse digital content performance using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) and provide recommendations for improvement/testing.
  • Monitor digital trends, industry best practices, and competitor activities to inform content strategies.
  • Manage content calendars and ensure the timely delivery of content across multiple channels.
  • Work closely with the digital marketing team to ensure content aligns with broader digital marketing campaigns.
  • Keep up to date with the latest content trends, tools, and best practices to continually improve digital content quality.
