London, Greater London, United Kingdom Alianza, Inc. Full time £80,000 - £120,000 per year

Principal Product Manager- API & Developer Platforms is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing the strategy for our API-driven product portfolio. This role requires someone who has built APIs, managed API gateways, and understands how APIs power end-to-end systems and applications.

In addition to product strategy, this leader will focus on establishing and enabling a thriving developer community that drives adoption, innovation, and long-term ecosystem growth. The Director will collaborate across engineering, architecture, operations, and developer relations to ensure APIs are scalable, secure, reliable, and easy to consume.

This role is central to shaping our platform vision, driving customer and partner success, and positioning the company as the leading provider of API-centric telecom and cloud solutions. While this role is currently an individual contributor position, it could evolve into a people management role in the future.

Key Responsibilities

API Strategy

  • Define and lead the API product strategy and roadmap, including REST/GraphQL/Webhooks, SDKs, and developer experience.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture to deliver scalable APIs and API gateways that power mission-critical systems.
  • Ensure APIs are designed with end-to-end system thinking—from authentication and observability to integration and downstream application enablement.
  • Oversee API lifecycle processes including versioning, deprecation, and EOL transitions.

Developer Program & Experience

  • Launch and manage a developer program with structured support, documentation, and self-service tools.
  • Facilitate developer support and feedback loops to continuously improve the developer experience.
  • Collaborate with technical writers to ensure API documentation is clear, accessible, and up to date.
  • Organize forums, events, hackathons, and enablement programs to grow a thriving developer ecosystem.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with marketing and sales on go-to-market strategies tailored for developers, partners, and service provider customers.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, validate direction, and accelerate adoption.
  • Represent the product organization in executive-level planning, customer engagements, and industry events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8–10+ years of progressive product management experience, including 3–5 years in leadership roles.
  • Hands-on experience in building and/or managing APIs and API gateways.
  • Strong understanding of system design, developer workflows, and application architectures.
  • Proven success in creating and launching API-driven products at scale.
  • Experience working with agile development and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background as a software engineer or architect with API or OSS/BSS integration development experience.
  • Experience with REST APIs, OpenAPI(Swagger), Postman, and API documentation tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, or serverless environments.
  • Experience in telecom, CPaaS, VOIP, or cloud communications.
  • Track record of launching developer programs, portals, or application marketplaces.
  • Passion for building developer-first products and communities.
