Graduate Geotechnical Engineer

Grampian Geotechnical is looking to recruit a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join our busy and growing team in Dyce, Aberdeen. We specialise in undertaking all types of site investigation work across Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to begin their career in geotechnical engineering, with full training and supervision provided.
The Role
The position is split between site work and office-based work.
- Base: Dyce, Aberdeen
- Travel: Frequent travel to client sites throughout Scotland (and occasionally elsewhere in the UK)
- Overnight stays: Occasional, with an overnight allowance paid
- Hours: 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday
- Overtime: Paid at an overtime rate for any additional hours worked
You will support site investigation projects from fieldwork through to reporting and will be expected to communicate effectively with colleagues, drillers and clients, with strong attention to detail.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out intrusive ground investigations
- Assisting with planning, supervision and programming of ground investigation projects
- Soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards
- Collating data and contributing to report writing
- Working closely with and supervising specialist drillers on site
- Undertaking post-site visits for monitoring and sampling
Person Specification
Essential:
- BSc degree (or equivalent) in Geology, Geography or a related Earth/Environmental Science subject
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Able to follow instructions and work safely on site
- Self-motivated, proactive and reliable
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and strong attention to detail
