Mace is seeking to appoint an experienced Risk Manager to join this rapidly growing and successful part of the business.
The key role will be to support the delivery of projects, through the provision of fit for purpose risk models and risk registers appropriate to project maturity across all key account areas and project categories in compliance with the company management system.
Please Note: The successful applicant will have project risk experience within the infrastructure/construction industry and will be required to work on site in Plymouth, Devon from time to time. The successful person will need to pass BPSS and SC clearance so please check the rules for these clearances before applying.
You'll be responsible for:
- Implementing the risk and opportunity management processes in accordance with the company management systems.
- Administering and updates risk and opportunity registers.
- Collating risk and opportunity data to prepare fit for purpose risk registers across all key account areas and project categories that comply with company processes and procedures and utilise methodologies appropriate to the project lifecycle stage.
- Liaising as required with internal and external stakeholders to obtain the necessary inputs required for the timely compilation of risk models and risk registers.
- Facilitating and managing the risk and opportunity within their area of responsibility.
- Carrying out peer review and benchmarking of risk models as required
- Agreeing key issues, and risks and opportunities for escalation with the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensuring an appropriate risk model is adequately and fully documented for all bids in accordance with the "Win Business" process.
- Producing risk models that satisfy contractual requirements incl. NEC3.
- All programmes and documentation to be produced in compliance with company processes and procedures.
- Presenting and support risk management through technical and commercial review process.
- Facilitating local risk and opportunity review meetings and ensures risk and opportunity review is performed as part of the monthly project reporting cycle.
- Preparing and maintaining risk and opportunity data within the business unit they are working in and in line with their reporting cycle for the relevant project boards and JV boards.
- To work to an open and honest risk and opportunity culture.
- Training and mentoring less experienced staff in processes and tools to ensure risk models and risk registers are prepared in a consistent and standard format across the company.
- Assisting in annual performance objectives setting and performance appraisals with direct reports where required in accordance with the company HR policy, process and procedure.
- Development of a quality approach and a regime of continuous improvement to ensure that "best practice techniques" are implemented as outlined within ISO 31000 risk management, the APM " body of knowledge", and the nuclear national skills academy.
You'll need to have:
- Experienced in risk management of complex projects.
- Time management and organisational skills.
- Strong influencing and people management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Track record in working in a regulated industry - Rail/Aviation etc.
You'll also have:
- Relevant degree qualifications or BTEC/HNC.
- CSCS.
- Nuclear and defence experience preferable.
